Dog Star Blue is a New England based quartet blending rock, R&B, jam, blues, and funk.

Comprised of Joshua Bouchard  on guitar and vocal, Gabriel Gustafson on bass and vocals, Justin Bytell on keyboards, and Mike Tierney on Drums, Dog Star Blue’s tenacity and singleness of purpose to delight and enliven audiences everywhere compel them to produce masterful songwriting and stellar showmanship.

Mixing exciting covers & soul-stirring originals, Dog Star Blue creates a harmonious rhythm inspired voyage for its listeners.  A perfect combination of stunning guitar improvisation and composition, the four piece deliver tight vocal harmonies with delightful and velvety tones that are signature to their sound.

Dog Star Blue’s journey has been one of hard work, perseverance, and dedication.  As a result of their dynamic performance, Dog Star Blue  performs regularly in and around Connecticut and has entertained on the main stage at Strange-Creek Music Festival in Greenfield, MA in the spring, and at Wormfest Music Festival in the fall several years running.

Dog Star Blue’s all pleasing sound has entertained audiences as diverse as Metal fans from Antrim, New Hampshire during the MetalGrass festival.  Dog Star Blue earned a TV spot on “Solly’s Show”, which was seen in the areas of Winsted, Torrington, Simsbury, and Enfield Connecticut, and in Massachusetts on the Westfield channel.

Dog Star Blue represents rock and roll at its best.  By all accounts, they have an abundant future ahead.  Their plans in the upcoming year include recording their first album, performing at more major festivals, and adding more great venues to expand their audience and share their inspiring tunes.

Joshua Bouchard - Guitar / Vocals

Boston born Joshua Bouchard owes his passion for music to his father who played different artists for him at a very early age.  Joshua’s father bought him his first guitar when he was 10, and has been playing ever since.

Joshua’s earliest musical influence was Eric Johnson. Later influences include Steve Morse, Trey Anastasio, Jerry Garcia, and Scott Murawski of Max Creek.

Joshua has collaborated musically with: CKC, Paul Davis Project (June Tuesday), and most recently, the Ruff Riders which includes John Rider, and Scott Allshouse of Max Creek.  Joshua has also been a music guest of Max Creek, Flipper Dave, Brendan Donahue, and Shortness.

Joshua’s incredible harmonies and amazing leads help make Dog Star Blue a power house that can energize any room and soothe any spirit.

Gabriel Gustafson - Bass / Vocals

Gabriel Gustafson (top)

Gabriel Gustafson was born in Bristol, CT., 4/30/1969, is married and fighting for my wife's freedom everyday. He first heard the Beatles "Magical Mystery Tour" when he was 7 years old. A musical awakening. Gabriel discovered where his dad was storing his acoustic guitar a year later. Don Gustafson had received the guitar for Christmas a couple of years before Gabriel was born, and had taken the time to learn a few chords, but didn't pursue it.

At 18, Gabriel was 'picking" around Providence RI when he chanced to get a little jam going with a new friend, Marty from NJ.. "He had this 'Andy Summer' type of style down pretty good.. y'know, the delay-layering type of self accompaniment... i loved it... but 2 guitarists wasn't going to work out... so i knew a guy in the south dorm who had a barely working Gibson eb-3, somebody did bad things to it in the name of customization years before, and the dude needed cash quick, so i gave him $50 and that's where it really started for me." one of his coworkers in the army reserve was a carting engineer (garbage man) who stumbled across what looked like an accordion case,... but was actually a "kalamazoo bass 30".. it was just what Gabriel needed to get the bass guitar off the ground. " that amp,.. boy do I regret ever letting that go... I loved that thing, and I had no idea how hard it was going to end up being to find another one!!"

From the band "Broken Window" at Johnson & Wales University, to present day, Gabriel has been a member of over 10 bands during a nearly 20 year period, with styles that run the gamut of music. blues hard rock, psychedelic, jam, jazz, progressive... any thing that has a groove...
